The House was the Marquis of Anglesey’s Fishing Lodge and still retains many of the features such as the original wood panelling from 1920’s in some of the bedrooms.

Space is the first thing you notice about the house. There’s room for everyone. The bedrooms are large and spacious. Views over the lake and the mountains confirm the house’s position as “one of the most unique places to stay in Snowdonia.” It is believed to be the only private house with its own lake in North Wales. It even has its own legends, see “ The Lady Of The Lake” and its own song. The house is centrally heated.

Accommodation consists of :

Kitchen

Kitchen with microwave, range cooker, fridge, payphone and sink unit.

A big kitchen with more than enough room for one cook or many. The large modern electric range cooker has two ovens, a a warming oven, a grill and four rings, a warming plate and a griddle plate. There are masses of crockery and pots and pans with all the extras you’d expect to cater for 16 people.

Utility kitchen with double sink, freezer and dishwasher

Coming in from a long walk you need loads of room for everyone’s boots, their coats and one or two well worn socks! The utility room has a dishwasher, freezer, iron, ironing board and two large sinks – so this is the most practical part of the house.

Shared washing and drying facilities are available at a small charge in a separate outbuilding

Dining Room

A 12 foot long table made out of one single cedar wood tree bought all the way from Surrey means that you and all your friends can sit down all together for a meal and more than a bottle or two of wine. After a long day by the lake, or maybe after climbing Snowdon, there’s nothing more relaxing than all sitting down together talking about the day.

Lounge

Lounge with views of the Lake, TV* and video/DVD and woodburning stove.

Snowdon blocks the TV transmission so choose a film from the extensive DVD/video library and watch a good movie with everyone. Alternatively why not play a game like Monopoly, Cluedo, Cards etc whilst taking it easy on one of the large sofas or chairs. The fire’s there if it gets nippy so you know you’ll be warm and comfy.

Bedrooms

Six of the bedrooms are on the ground floor with easy access (but there are a few steps). They comprise of:

2 Emperor Double/Twin bedrooms en suite

Early morning is the best time to really appreciate these two rooms. Imagine opening the curtains and looking out over the lake which sometimes has Snowdon itself reflected in the water.

Bedrooms 1 and 2 are spacious and steeped in history with their original wood panelling and vaulted ceilings. There are additional heaters if you prefer it warmer

Both rooms have their own private en-suite shower rooms.

1 Double Bedroom en suite

Bedroom 3 has absolutely stunning views over the lake through two picture windows - when you walk in it is like walking on water. Added to that is the slate tile en-suite shower room and everyone will be taking lots to choose this room.

2 Double King Rooms

The size of the rooms will impress all your guests and the country views will ensure anyone choosing these rooms has their own stake in the Welsh countryside during their stay in Castell Cidwm. Bedrooms 5 and 8 have en-suite shower rooms. (Bedromm 8 is upstairs)

1 Emperor / Twin en suite

The Marquis of Anglesey’s taste for traditional wood panelling adorns bedroom 6. Thos room has an en-suite bathroom.

1 single en-suite

One of only two bedrooms upstairs, this sunny room gives views over the countryside and has an en-suite shower room. Bedroom 7 has the advantage of being private and comfortable and is often chosen by quieter members of the group.

1 Single room with vanity unit and toilet.

Simple yet comfortable. Bedroom 4 is the nearest to the secret garden which you will discover when you explore the grounds.

There are two other fold-up beds available which can fit into any of the double bedrooms and you’ll find there’s more than enough room for travel cots in most of the double rooms. There is a travel cot and high chair available for your use if required.

There are extensive gardens at Castell Cidwm and the party who occupy the House have their own lakeside frontage with use of patio furniture and gas barbecue.
